Are you planning a major renovation and reconstruction of your old home? Here are a few useful steps from our practice.
- Take enough time to consider what you want to change, what your style is, and what budget you have for renovating and furnishing your home.
- Find out approximately how much the renovation you have planned and the furnishings you want will cost you. Usually the costs are more than planned, so add another 10% extra to be safe.
- To avoid unforeseen situations, it is important that your renovation and furnishing plan is thought out comprehensively and simultaneously, before any action is taken. By having a plan, you can always implement the rest of the project later without any unpleasant surprises. The biggest mistake that can be made is to think in pieces – i.e. now the renovation, then the design of the furniture and interior. This leads to changes in the renovation that has just been done and additional costs.
- There are two options: organize everything yourself, if you have these skills, or hire a company that will follow your idea and that you can trust.
- Find the house/building plans. They are needed by designers and craftsmen regarding the location of cables, load-bearing walls, and other features.
- Visualize the ideas and design your home. You could hire specialists from different segments separately.. You need to guide and synchronize their work. If you do not have this time and competence, you can choose a company to organize the processes.
- Research the market and find out about prices, services and deadlines. The time for renovation, design and furnishing is strictly individual. The offers that the specialists will prepare for you are in most cases free of charge.
